Late wedding reception?

There's nothing wrong with this. My son and his fiance are doing something similar. They're getting married in Vegas in May and are having the reception in July for everybody. Apparently, on her side of the family there are a lot of nosy, interfering types (that's what they told me) so that's why they're doing t his. They also don't have a lot of money.
