What is the outside of uggs made of?

I recently bought a pair of "authentic" ugg boots from e-bay and I was wondering what the outside of them is made of? I own a pair of the cardy ones and the outside is wool, however with these when I opened the box they smelled strongly like plastic and the only piece that is suede is the heel patch-thing.
